Isaac and I continue to spend our Wednesdays at Rogers Center. Things are developing quickly there, though. Four years ago the Center was threatened with closure by NY State pulling all funds to keep it going, including releasing all staff.
I joined the Board of Directors of Friends of Rogers, the not for profit group that was set up as support in the 1960's when Rogers began. A lot has happened in the last four years, and I have moved from a Board member to an employee.
As the Children's Program Coordinator I lead the weekly storytime and hike program. I volunteered for a year and a half doing the music and helping with the hike. In March I began leading it alone as the Environmental Educator on staff was getting increasingly busier.
The Storytime and Hike program has been very popular from the start. We consistently draw 15 to 30 children each week. I have enjoyed it a lot. There are Wednesdays when we arrive at 10 and aren't home until after 1pm! Isaac and I both enjoy eating a picnic lunch and hanging our with friends after the program. I am glad to continue attending after Isaac goes to school in the fall so I can continue that social time.
Friends of Rogers is in the middle of creating some media advertising, and a video of Storytime has been posted on their website. Check it out here:

I have taken on a few more responsibilities at Rogers as well. I will be leading a series on home food preservation and will be directing two weeks of summer day camp for 5-7 year olds. Here we go!

Chicks are out!
Well, the chicks aren't so little anymore, and they finally moved out of the garage! We got a roof on their coop and carried it (all six of us) to the backyard. We have a temporary low fence around the coop for when we let them out, just to show them what their boundaries are. They love the outdoors! I know, crazy, huh?! Josh says he can already see that they are eating less feed- and more bugs!

Second Saturday in June
The beginning of June is a busy time in Sherburne. The Annual Pageant of Bands brings hundreds of new faces to the streets, and with Caleb in the marching band it's hard to fully avoid the chaos.
The week after that is the longstanding block garage sale. We have found that selling snacks becomes our biggest profit. This year I didn't collect little things to sell. I had tables as chairs and strollers and a few big toys, and I was pleased to send things on their way. Josh really got into it this year, and was a big help with set up and even manned the shop while Lyd and I went downtown.
The newly established Walk in the Arts was going on next to the library. One of Lydia's pieces from art class was on display so we went down. She also enjoyed the snakes and reptiles, tortoises and birds of prey.

Rubadubdub
Well, Italy is not duly recorded, but life goes on! Time to get these goings on put up!
Rubadudubdub, three men in a tub,
And who do you think they be?
This is the tub that held the baby chicks before they flew to the coop. The kids washed it and set it under the eaves to collect rainwater to have a water fight. It didn't take long for them to climb right into the "swimming hole" (as the Jacksons call it).
