Lydia does this gasping thing when she's happy or excited. It drives me kinda crazy, but it is funny.
Uncle Matt comes for a very quick visit. He is on military leave from Kuwait. We loved having him here, showing him what our summer is like and sending him on his way with hugs and kisses. Thanks for coming!
We went to the creek to collect bugs and swimming things.
Caleb also tried out a popsicle stick boat he made.
How do you like the new "do"? I called a sitter and headed for the salon, not quite sure what I would do. I told her I wanted chin length, and when she measured she thought I was about an inch shy of donation length - 10 inches. She could have done it, but cutting off a ponytail requires finishing rough edges, and ultimately getting shorter. So - no donation this time. But - look at the curl! Who would have thought I could have it? A little gel on wet hair, and I am curly! It's a cute new look for me. I was tired of the pony tail every day. I've never been a hair "do-er" before.

Seems every time I tried to videotape Lydia's new crawl, she would fall. I liked the crawl because it was like a "lame dog." She had one foot walking with the other leg kinda hanging under her. It's 7-29 now. This was over a week ago, I think. She crawls "normal" most of the time now. She is even climbing! No real desire to walk yet, though. She's 8-1/2 months old. Having Fun!
See the bruise on Lydia's nose. That's from the crawling accident in the video.

This is a drawing of Hammy from Over The Hedge that Caleb drew. We had the video from the library for seven days. I wouldn't say that we watched it seven times, but it was pretty close!

Come on, Lydia says. She twists her hands as if trying to tell us something. Look at her on the hands and feet. A few days ago she would scooch, then be stuck on her belly. Now she stops to play and gets going again like a pro.

It's pea time! The kids shelled 3/4 of this bread pan - then ate half of them. I was impressed with their diligence, but of course it ended with peas all over! ugh!

Lydia just starting to move around. Now, 7-12-08, she gets where she needs to go. But - lay her on her back, and she'll stay put!
